They’re a hit at any gathering, but especially with my kids, who love the combination of creamy cheese, smoky bacon, and just the right amount of heat.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Prepare the Jalapeños:

Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Wash the jalapeños thoroughly and slice them in half lengthwise.

Using a spoon, gently scoop out the seeds and membranes. If you prefer less heat, make sure to remove all the seeds. Set the prepared jalapeño halves aside.

Make the Creamy Filling:

In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, shredded white cheddar, and bacon bits.

Add your favorite BBQ rub or seasoning to the cheese mixture, adjusting the amount to suit your family’s taste. This step adds a lovely depth of flavor that complements the smoky bacon and spicy jalapeños.

Fill the Jalapeños:

Using a spoon, fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture. Be generous but avoid overfilling, as the cheese will melt and expand in the oven.

Press the filling down slightly to ensure it’s evenly distributed.

Wrap with Bacon:

Cut the bacon strips in half so you have 16 shorter pieces.

Wrap one piece of bacon around each filled jalapeño half, making sure the ends overlap slightly.

Secure the bacon with two soaked toothpicks per jalapeño to prevent it from unraveling during baking. Soaking the toothpicks helps prevent them from burning in the oven.

Bake the Poppers:

Arrange the bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the cheese is bubbly.

If you prefer extra crispy bacon, you can switch the oven to broil for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Just keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.

Serve and Enjoy:

Once baked, remove the jalapeño poppers from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.

How to store and reheat Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers

Storing Leftovers:

If you have any leftovers (which is rare in my house!), allow the jalapeño poppers to cool completely.

Then, place them in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating in the Oven:

To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Place the poppers on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or until they’re heated through and the bacon has crisped up again.

This method keeps the bacon nice and crispy, just like when they were first baked.

Reheating in the Air Fryer:

For a quicker option, you can reheat the poppers in an air fryer.

Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and place the jalapeño poppers in the basket, making sure they’re not overlapping.

Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until they’re hot and crispy.

The air fryer works wonders for bringing back that perfect bacon crunch.

A Note on Microwaving:

While it might be tempting to pop these in the microwave for a quick reheat, I don’t recommend it.

The microwave tends to make the bacon soggy, which takes away from the delightful crispy texture that makes these poppers so irresistible.

Final Thoughts

These bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers are a fantastic way to enjoy the fruits of your garden labor.

They’re flavorful, easy to make, and perfect for any occasion—from family dinners to summer BBQs. Plus, they’re a great way to get your kids to enjoy a little spice in their food.

And with the convenience of baking them in the oven, you can enjoy these tasty treats year-round, no grill required.
